NDC General Secretary Asiedu Nketiah

The General Secretary of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Johnson Aseidu Nketiah, says the opposition party is committed to rescuing Ghanaians from the NPP’s poor governance in 2024.

The NDC General Secretary said the governing party has proven not to care about the average Ghanaian.

He said this at an event held on Friday, June 10, 2022, to mark the 30th anniversary of the NDC.

At the event, Mr. Nketiah said present situations are indicative of how badly the governing party has performed.

He expressed the NDC’s commitment to “rescuing Ghanaians from NPP’s bad leadership.”

“We [the NDC] adopted the slogan of a rescue mission for 2020 elections. Unfortunately, that mission was not quite accomplished, but developments since then have made it more imperative for us to continue with the agenda to rescue this country.”

“And for anyone who doubts whether it is necessary to rescue the country at all, I leave you with a word from Professor Joseph Stiglitz, a professor at the Columbia University in his book ‘The price of inequality: How today’s divided society endangers our future’. The Professor stated, ‘When you see that in order to produce, you need to obtain permission from men who produce nothing – When you see that money is flowing to those who deal, not in goods, but in favours – When you see that men get richer by graft and by pull than by work, and your laws don’t protect you against them, but protect them against you – When you see corruption being rewarded and honesty becoming a self-sacrifice – You may know that your society is doomed’.”

“I will now leave you to compare the quote with the current situation in our country and draw your own conclusion. I believe you agree with us, the NDC, that this nation has to be rescued,” he added.
